The Captain’s introduction to
surfing in the 1960’s is evident in the surfboards he
handcrafts today.
Having spent time surfing in California and
Hawaii, the love of wood and water kept calling him to
create surfboards.
These handcrafted hollow wooden
surfboards are made using cedar planks with exotic wood
accents. The rails are narrow cedar strips, resulting in
an all-wooden board. The finishing process includes 6
ounce fiberglass cloth with three coats of epoxy resin.
Each board is finished with a fin box, vent plug
and leash plug. The optional non-skid deck grip and fin
can be included for an additional fee.
Currently Captain Sawdust is making 10 foot
surfboards featuring a variety of wood choices. The
classic-shaped, single-fin Nose Riders take you back to
the days of riding wood on water.
Prices for finished boards range
from $1750 - $2200 depending on
specific details.
